Welcome!

The Charlotte Women’s Soccer League (CWSL) is a recreation league run by volunteers and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Parks & Recreation Department (North Carolina).  The current league includes 6 teams consisting of about 110 players of all skill levels and backgrounds.

The CWSL plays two seasons: a fall season, which runs September to November, and a spring season, which runs March to June.  Each season consists of regular season games and playoff games.

2008 Fall Season Details

 

Free Play/Registration Date:	Thursday, August 14th 7:30pm (WR Davie Park) Thursday, August 21st 7:30pm (WR Davie Park)

Games Begin:	Thursday, August 28th
Registration Fee:	$55

 

 General Information:

 

The fall season begins Thursday, August 28^th.  We plan on 7 teams with room to grow if needed.  Each team plays 8 games in the regular season, then competes in a single-elimination tournament.  The season will run through the end of November.  Games are played on Thursday evenings with start times of 7:00, 7:30, or 8:45.  There are no practices.

 Everyone registers individually and is placed on a team by the league.  New teams are formed for the fall season.  The fee to play is $55.  The fee covers field rental, lights, referees & shirts. 

 Field locations are WR Davie Park (4635 Pineville-Matthews Road) and Queens University Athletic Complex at Marion Diehl Park (2219 Tyvola Road).  Teams typically play 6 games at Davie and 2 games at Queens.  This season we may add another location to mix things up – TBD!  Tournament games will be played at Davie Park. 

 The fields are very nice.  The surface is turf grass – regular cleats are recommended, but you can get away with flats or tennis shoes if the surface is dry.  Shinguards and socks to cover them are required.  You will receive a CWSL team shirt.

We will hold open play & registration on Thursday, August 14^th and Thursday, August 21^st at Davie Park from 7:30 PM until we’re all tired.  Come and kick around, get your touch back, introduce yourself to us, and even register on site.  Bring a dark and light shirt.

The registration fee is $55.  Make checks payable to CWSL.

 

 

Registration Notes:

You will not be registered until you have paid the registration fee – no forms will be accepted without fee attached.  The deadline to register is Friday, August 22^nd.  All players registering after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list.
